I have never enjoyed wearing shades because of my bad eyesight.   I have never worn them until I got my first pair of eye contact lenses in 2008 — I am nearsighted, btw, plus astigmatism.   I can tell you a lot of disadvantages but I will just save that story for another day.

My first taste of serious-tinted-glasses-wearing when I was able to get hands on a limited pair of Tayfarers aka SIO Sunglasses in late 2010.  I fell in love with this pair and swore will wear it until it dies on me.   Well, guess what?   After four years, I bought a new pair!   Do you think I am going to use and abuse this just like I did with my Tayfarers?  Find out below!

THE DOVIE SUNNIES STATEMENT

The Dovie Sunnies in Matte Black Full Smoke from Sunnies Studios (PHP399.00 or US$9.00) features high-pointed temples, round curves, tinted plastic lenses with plastic frame in black matte.  Reasonably lightweight.  It has a cateye silhouette frame shape that will give you a modern/retro look, and has a UV 400 protection.  It also comes in a small pouch (you may choose the color you like, I picked gray!) and a microfiber cloth.

Lens Width: 51mm / Bridge Width: 20mm / Frame Total: 150mm.

IS DOVIE MEANT FOR YOU?

The price tag was the main reason why I bought this pair.  If you are looking for cheap pairs but yet look expensive, fun, and stylish, opt for shades from Sunnies Studios.  The most expensive I’ve tried when I visited their store was around PHP720.  Dovie was just PHP399.

Dovie Sunnies has a cat-eye shaped frame that will suit almost all face shapes.  If you have a heart-shaped face, this style will accentuate your features.  If you have a round face like me, this style will add a visual lift to your full face.

Dovie Sunnies is for you if you like wearing shades inside establishments like malls (like I do.  am I cray, cray?  lol)  The color and the degree of darkness that Dovie provide can make you see pretty well.  At least, to my brain wave.

You should be aware that protecting your eyes from the UV rays is very important.  One pair of Dovie Sunnies, which gives a UV 400 protection has a capability to shield your eyes from even the tiniest UV rays.  Cool, huh?

Dovie will be your BFF if you are into variation and range, if you love collecting sunglasses, if you have a thing for matte black, or if you just simply head over heels in love with Sunnies Studio products.

And of course, Dovie is going to be a perfect gift for your girl friends!  With a straight face from me!

THE WORRIMENTS

I made a sincere conclusion that the hinge of my pair of Dovie Sunnies will eventually loose when stretch out and worn over time, which is the usual case with cheapo frames and sunglasses in general.  My judgement was based on the Dovie pair, which was displayed on the store versus this new pair, which was taken from their stocks.

Obviously, the unused Dovie Sunnies was super tight and perfect fit.  The only thing I can do is to just watch out for popping out scenes of these little mechanisms and will try to screw them back using a tool.

For makeup junkie, your foundation might transfer to the shade’s matte surface.  Not foundations do this but my MAC Studio Fix Fluid did.

To add, if you are really serious of blocking the harmful rays from the sun, unfortunately, refuse Dovie Sunnies because I think wraparound or close-fitting shades with wide lenses do best in that area.

To wrap this up, the Dovie Sunnies was a great choice and will surely wear this pair whenever I go out.  I am loving the idea that this gives me a different look.  I am going to buy more from this local brand, Sunnies Studios if I have the budget.
