MARY KAY FOUNDATION
I recently welcomed a new foundation makeup in my routine, which I have been wearing on & off for the last few weeks. I thought it was time for me to wear a foundation because I was into BB Creams especially in the second half of last year — Talkin’ ’bout lookin’ good and feelin’ great in the low maintenance beauty setup, heh.
Anyway, If you are interested how my road test went using this Mary Kay matte foundation, please continue reading!
DESCRIPTION
Mary Kay TimeWise Matte-Wear Beige 2 Liquid Foundation (US$22.00 or PHP785.00 for 29mL) claims that it’s great for wearers who have combination to oily skin. Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. It has a buildable coverage and offers a flawless, matte finish.
COLOR
In Mary Kay, there are three color classifications: Beige (for warm undertones), Ivory (for cool/neutral undertones), and Bronze (for super tanned or darker skin tones) and they are followed by a number where 0.5 has the lightest shade and 8 has the darkest shade. (source)
I have warm/filipina undertones so I got the Beige 2 shade as per recommended by my Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. It was actually a buy blind but I took a risk as I always do and ordered this shade. Anyway, it’s a struggle for me to get the perfect match — have you found the one? — so I did not have high hopes for this one, and as long as it doesn’t have pink undertones, I am okay with that.
Well, Beige 2 does match but it does oxidize on me after few hours. Ouch! It’s forgivable though as the longest time I could be out of the house is four hours. It’s a hit-and-miss too: Sometimes it does look good after a day, sometimes it’s a total mess. Very inconsistent. Well, I blame the sweaty weather and my oily face.
My solution for oil buildup: Use a blotting paper or apply your favorite powder foundation from time to time to keep this liquid foundation intact.
Unkind on flash photography: Noticeable white cast! Eek. Stay away from flash at all cost! We all know that we look better in natural lighting, right?
For your reference, I am between NC30 and NC35 in MAC Cosmetics.
COVERAGE & APPLICATION
Mary Kay TimeWise Matte-Wear Beige 2 Liquid Foundation’s opacity is light to medium. I think you can also achieve a full coverage when you add another layer.
The product is too runny and too messy. Meaning, you need to be careful when you squeeze the product out of the tube. I crunch the tube and get just a tiny amount of the product onto the back of my hand, and dot it using my ring finger and apply it on my face: Forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin + neck.
Tools I’ve used so far: MAC 190 Foundation Brush and Sigma Beauty 3DHD Kabuki Brush.
ON ME
Applied one layer of Mary Kay TimeWise Matte-Wear Beige 2 Liquid Foundation here. I always discourage myself to put another layer because I just have the fear that the product will cake on me at the end of the day. I’ve always loved to wear a light coverage although I have facial issues like pimple scars and aging spots. Kebs. *laughs*
Also, the number one reason why I wear foundation is to gain an even skin tone because my whole body is a lot lighter than my face. It’s an awful reality.
Before I end this up, I am still interested to finish this tube until to the last drop. It has a great finish on me especially when I give an extra effort on perfecting my base using my favorite moisturizer and primer.
Have you tried any foundations from Mary Kay? I hope you find this review helpful. If you have questions, let me know! Until next time!
I find Mary kay to be very inconsistent with wear times and irritation. I just stopped buying them.
Hi Erin, that sucks! So far, I did not get any breakouts with this one. I only wear it when I go to malls. Hehe! Thanks for visiting! x

Oh no!! Could you mix it with another foundation or something? I really like mary kay blushes but I haven’t tried their foundation!
I haven’t tried anything Mary Kay ever, at east not that I remember, and I will not rush out to buy some after reading your review.
It is hard for me to find the perfect match in foundation as well, as I am pretty light, but still warm toned and most light foundations are pink based.
