#FLATLAY PHOTOGRAPHY
After 16 years of blogging and everything has changed since then, writing my first paragraph is still a struggle. Why oh why? To add, I always feel discouraged lately to start putting my thoughts into words without drafting photos first. Can you relate? I should blame this generation where everything is all about visual, huh? And according to some experts, there are approximately 300 million images are uploaded to Facebook everyday. How about on Instagram and Snapchat? Your guess is as good as mine. *grins*
Anyway, I love taking pictures and one of my favorite subjects to photograph is my makeup stash. Today you are looking at one of my new eyeshadows that was generously sent by Sigma Beauty.
NOTRE DAME EYESHADOW
If your world is involved in everything eyeshadows with smooth, paraben-free, and easy to blend formula, the Sigma Beauty Notre Dame Individual Eye Shadow (US$11.00 for 2.5g) could be your next bet! It’s hard to explain and finding the right words is scarcity right now but it’s kind of powdery but no fallouts! During my initial application, it just stayed put on the eyelid like an obedient kitten as I continued doing my brush strokes. In fact, I was anticipating the irritating dusts that could enter my eyes but damn-notre-dame, I got none! I must be dreaming!
I also need to highlight that the micro glitters of Notre Dame are so pretty! They just bring light back to my lids. Again, with the no-fallouts sorcery, this is the first time ever that I am going to give appreciation to eyeshadows with glitters. Oh Sigma, how did you do it? Thank you so much!
IS NOTRE DAME FOR YOU?
I am an eyeshadow-palette person but I enjoy single eyeshadows as well as they are easy to carry inside a makeup bag when traveling. It all depends on your lifestyle. I always travel light and having this eyeshadow plus a blending brush and my favorite eye primer are enough for me to create an eye look.
Notre Dame’s color is like an eggplant. It surely falls under the violet shade. To a degree, the finish is metallic and has a decent amount of sparkles. It’s my first time to have this particular hue in my collection. The Deep Purple from the LORAC PRO Palette is the closest shade that I can think of right now but the one from the LORAC PRO is a lot darker and it is in matte form.
PIGMENTATION ISSUES
I still have to try few things to make Notre Dame to pop more. When packing on this eyeshadow to my lids, the color was indeed so vibrant and intensely hued. However, when using a brush to blend it, its vividness seems went down a step. Either my blending skills were outrageous, wrong choice of brush, my eye primer’s fault, or the color was supposed to be like that when blended. Thoughts?
SUN VS LED
Whenever I want to get good quality pictures, nothing beats the help of natural lighting but the sunlight is harsh and can wash-out the face. Unless you are using a diffuser or any translucent material, whatever makeup you put on will absolutely show up in photos slightly changed and sometimes if you are unlucky, your blush will never show up at all.
On the other hand, I also love taking my selfie pictures using artificial lights coming from my pink vanity mirror that produces white lighting because it just gives my photographs almost true colors. How many times I wished I can fit in my lightbox and take a gazillion photos like there’s no tomorrow. *laughs*

You look beautiful! I like to carry around single eye shadows when I’m traveling, which has been a lot recently. This is a very pretty one that I neeeeed to get! Also, I always have trouble writing out what I want to say in every blog post- you’re not alone!

I love purples and violets, and I think it looks really great on your eyes.
And I totally agree, the first paragraph is the hardest.

I really like your makeup here! I like the eyeshadow colour but as you say, it seems to lose that pop effect when blended. I guess patting it on again would do the trick.

Thank you for the suggestion, Xuvious! I am gonna try that next time. Maybe I am just too much involved in blending. lol.

I like it, it’s a very wearable shade so maybe it’s just not meant to pop 🙂

WOW! Notre Dame looks gorgeous! You look lovely wearing it. 😀
Even with the reduced vibrancy, it still looks so very sultry on you. Probably because of the shape of your lids, and this color certainly flatters them.
I struggle with first paragraphs as well. I want to share a bit more about myself, rather than just opening the discussion to beauty products immediately. I need to work on that. I have no idea what to share, so it feels awkward to me.
